The Creative Process - Short Necklace.

Having enjoyed creating the lovely forms for my long necklace, I began to envision many other pieces using this form, I wanted to create at least another piece using them before I had to stop. Once again I neglected to take many process images, but I will try to explain the process as best I can with the images I have.

I began by creating the forms in the same way as before.

And enamelling them in a similar fashion, with one coat of black liquid enamel and then a coat of white.

I created a link chain in the same way as the long neckalce, using a big doming punch to form my rings around. I soldered these all together, and then flattened them with a hammer.

I then made a wrapped loop on one end of the chain and used these lovely vintage green beads to string the forms together.
This is a shorter necklace so has a toggle closure attached.

I'm pleased with how this piece turned out. Using the beads to separate the forms works well and allows for some movement on the body. For me it is a little too long, but admittedly I like my necklaces tight to my neck, I think I will find that the length will be just right for most people.
These forms are wonderful to work with, and had I had more time I would have liked to create some more pieces using them.
